John Douglas Pritchard

Hello, I’m John Douglas Pritchard.
Starting Over Again ~ System Restore Yourself was born from lived experience.
I am not a doctor, therapist, or clinician. I don’t write from theory or credentials — I write from a life shaped by trauma, loss, anxiety, self-doubt, and the long, often lonely process of rebuilding from the inside out. Like many people, I had to learn how to survive first… and then how to truly live again.
Much of what I share in this book comes from hard-earned personal experience. When I was struggling, there were few resources that spoke plainly to what I was going through, and even fewer that felt relatable. I learned through trial, error, reflection, and resilience — discovering along the way that real change often begins by understanding and reclaiming control over our own thoughts.
One of the key tools I introduce in this book — the sticky notes exercise — developed gradually as a way to quiet mental chaos and interrupt patterns that no longer served me. I began to think about the mind the same way we think about a computer: when things become overloaded or corrupted, sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is reset and restore. That insight became the foundation of this book.
Everything else you may be curious about — including my personal journey — unfolds naturally in the opening chapters. From there, Starting Over Again offers practical exercises, reflections, and encouragement designed to help you regain clarity, rebuild confidence, and take back control of your life.
You are not broken. You are not alone. And starting over is possible.
Press reset. Restore yourself.
